Club ESE celebrated the World Environment Day Date 11/06/2021 Comments 0 comment The Spirit of Ecosystem Protection Club (Club ESE) made up of students from the Department of Environmental Science of the Faculty of Sciences at the Catholic University of Bukavu celebrated World Environment Day under the theme: ecosystem restoration in a conference held at Bugabo campus. To encourage youths to take an interest in a topical subject in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, students from the Department of Environment Science have chosen different sub-topics such as ecosystem restoration, terrestrial ecosystem restoration, monitoring and evaluation of ecosystem restoration projects and carried out a case study with the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) project on the restoration and management of mountain ecosystems in South Kivu. For these students, the living environments are deteriorating with indicators which are clearly visible to inhabitants in South Kivu province. They discussed mechanisms for preventing degradation, recognizing degraded environments, combating degradation, reasons for restoration, techniques that can be used to find healthy living spaces, etc. The World celebrates World Environment Day on June 05 each year.
