Carmy Basaki, winner of the young public prize at the 16th edition of the international writing contest organized by “Chansons sans frontières” based in Caen City in France, was presented to the public of Bukavu during a literary café on Saturday, June 18 in the media library of Insitut Français de Bukavu.

 On this occasion, Carmy Basaki, a second-year student at the Faculty of Economics of the Catholic University of Bukavu, talked about his relationship with writing and his passion for the pen.

While answering various questions from the participants, the winner spoke about the literary genre that allowed him to win the competition. It is thanks to the pantoum, a fixed-form poem borrowed from Malay poetry, composed of a series of cross-rhymed quatrains, in which the second and fourth lines of a stanza are taken up by the first and third lines of the following stanza, with the last line of the poem taking up the initial line, that this passionate penman was rewarded. His work is entitled “Le long de mon Avenue”.

The award was presented to Carmy Basaki by the director of Institut Français who gave a speech on behalf of Chansons sans Frontières team.
