PhD Defense by Mwenebitu Lupande “Caractérisation moléculaire de traits de résistance de bacille à Gram négatif de la RD Congo” David LUPANDE Mwenebitu MD, MSc, MMed_Clinical Microbiologist Planned defense date: November 25, 2021 Thematic summary: Multi-resistant Gram-negative bacilli from the Democratic Republic of Congo: epidemiology, resistance genes and genomics. A collection of clinical strains isolated in DR Congo was brought back to Marseille for molecular characterization, the beta-lactam and carbapenem resistance genes were found and described (NDM-1), no mcr gene found. 4 strains benefited from complete genome sequencing, from which the genomic descriptions were based, particularly for a very little described species and a first in Africa (Providencia vermicola). About 50 non-fermentative bacteria forming part of the batch were analyzed as well as their genotypic resistance profile, a rare species (Brevundimonas diminuta) was the subject of a case report under preparation because it was isolated from a new born premature and at a low birth weight; with omphalitis.
