The University Red Cross Unit was created in 2017 by medical students. The numerous accidents in students’ residences, traffic accidents, home accidents, armed robberies are the reasons which led these students to establish this brigade. To remedy all this, it organizes first aid training sessions in partnership with the provincial office of the Red Cross. It organizes simulation sessions in partnership with the emergency department of the General Provincial Referral Hospital of Bukavu (HPGRB). The brigade is also involved in blood donation campaigns at the HPGRB. Our activities – Simulation We do simulation for many first aid technics such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, cardiac massage, ventilation… These sessions are open to all students, trained and untrained. Thus allowing the trained to master more and coach the untrained in first aid. – Training Our training sessions are open to all students and are conducted during holidays when students have considerable free time. Our trainings are offered in partnership with the provincial office of the Red Cross. – Voluntary Blood Donation In partnership with the blood bank of the General Provincial Referral Hospital of Bukavu.
